My best friend Mandi passed away at 31 early Wednesday morning while I was in Philly for the Tower Theater shows. She had a stroke the morning before, and that night at the show I got the news she wasn't going to make it. That night Phil came through with a Box of Rain to comfort me, and the next night they played Reuben and Cherise which was her all time favorite. She was the most passionate about the Grateful Dead person I've ever known. The plan is to spread some of her ashes at Red Rocks later this year, and a few other places she loved visiting.

Fare You Well, Fare You Well
I love you more than words can tell.

DeadRed1971 I am sorry for your loss and echo the sentiments expressed by Sean.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal.

I'm very sorry DeadRead 1971. It it almost always painful, but 31 is way, way too soon.
What was her fav year/era? What was one or two of her fav shows? What jazzed her so much about GD?

Thanks, Sean.

She was very partial to the later Brent & Vince years. That was always a sore spot between us. I'm a first 15 years guy. I know she did like the 8-4-74 matrix I gave her (thanks HS) because of the WRS. I played the West High shows on a road trip to Coney Island last year and she dug those a lot too. She just loved to dance, and being part of the scene. Unfortunately, it was the only place in her life she was truly happy. She was a very self destructive person because of that. It wasn't the scene that caused her to get tied up in some bad shit though.

D & I were with you two at Coney Island last year. I am glad she was able to express herself through dance and feel part of and safe in 'the scene'.
Sometimes you just want to take it away from someone. So they won't be plagued or troubled or hurt themselves. Again, I'm sorry DR. Way too young.

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: What is a Bear Melt? A grilled cheese sandwich with the bread replaced by ribeyes...;-)

Does look tasty; Maybe my second purchase of the FLACs from this tour...
